Summary
Prior to starting IntoMO, John Miniati, launched Questily to address the two root causes of low proficiency rates: low engagement and the Bell Curve (students learn at different levels and pace). After seeing print-to-digital success as a software vendor to Mooresville NC (Scholastic District of the Year), he built Questily, a team-based learning app that lets students work in teams of 2 or 3 learning and demonstrating mastery at their own pace and level of difficulty.
Highlights:
Context: A startup addressing low student proficiency rates (only 40% K12 students are proficient in Math and Language Arts in USA)
Focus: Making learning fun by letting students work together in small teams of 2 or 3, at their own pace and level of difficulty.
Approach: Kids learn together (at their own pace) with fun learning apps, and teachers evaluate mastery by checking paper-based assessments (so no learning curve for teachers).
What it demonstrates: How relentless focus on student and teacher needs can mimic Mooresvilles 5-year journey to success in a single day
